TELANGANA

Ø  Govt of Telangana decided to rename the Nandi awards as Simha awards,which will be given annually for Film Industry.

Ø   Pupil from Govt school of Kandukurthi village of Nizamabad dist attend the International Science festival in Delhi in the part of “Sansand Adarsh Gram Yojana”,the village adopted by MP Kavita under the scheme.

the student from this village Bushra Naj won final prize for singing Jaya Jaya he telangana In the programme.

Ø  TITA(Telangana Information Technology Association),Common Service Centre and Mee Seva  and Govt TS launched Digithon (Cultivating digital literacy),a new campaign to promote digital financial literacy among the people of Telangana.

Objective – To create cashless Telangana.

Ø  30 out of 31 districts of Telangana declared as the most backward except Hyderabad.

Backward Regional Grant Fund(BRGF) amount of 450cr. Is going to spend on these districts.

Parameter  for recognizing backwardness

1)      Per capita Income

2)      Industrial growth

3)      Living standards

Ø  Women protection wing – SNEHITA initiated in Suryapet district on 8^th December 2016.

Ø  Telangana govt appointed Sudheer Kumar committee to study socio economic  and educational status of Muslims in the state.

Recommendations of committee

1)      Setting up of EOC (Equal Opportunities Commission).The task of committee is to supervise the providing equal opportunities to all groups in the population.

2)      Implementation of Diversity Index as per Sachar committee(2006) & Kundh committee (2014)report.

3)      Establishing the expert group to study the backwardness & providing the recommendations for  a community based on new age parameters.

4)      Including the Mehar community of Muslims into SC’s.

5)      Improving the infrastructure facilities in the Urdu Medium schools and giving opportunity to learn English as the optional subject.

6)      Taking measurements to strengthen the Urdu language as second language of the state.

7)      Setting up of sub-plan for Muslims.

8)      Most of the Muslims are doing small businesses. There should be a separate start-up fund Muslims.

9)      Allotting separate budget for the welfare of the Muslims and providing the scholarships for Muslim students. Providing  the  free admissions to Muslims into the schools.

10)   Govt has to take proper measurements to upheld the Communal harmony in the state.

11)    81% of population among the Muslims are backward.

Committee recommended 9-12% reservation for Muslims in jobs and education.

The state govt  has to  recommend this report to central govt for amendment of the constitution.

Ø  Malkapur village of Thupran (M),Medak dist got Best Panchyath award.

·         Deputy Speaker Padma Devendar reddy adopted this village.

Ø  Lakshmi srija won Telugu book of records & Telangana records, super kids award.

·         These awards were initiated by Chintapatla Venkata chari.

Ø  International  Premier  Tennis League(IPTL)-2016 concluded at Gachibowli,Hyderabad.

·         Sponsored by Coca-cola & Quatar airway,annual tennis league held throughout Asian cities.

·         Started In 2013

·         Mahesh Bhupati founded this,he is also the director of IPTL.

·         4 countries participates in the league.

India,Singapore,Japan and United Arab Emirates.

·         First tournament held at India in 2014,winner was India Aces runner up was UAE Royals.

·         2015- held at Singapore,won by Singapore Slammers,runner up was Indian Aces.

·         2016- held at Gachibowli & won by Singapore slammers,runner up was Indian Aces.

Ø  Ibrahimpuram ,Siddipet dist is the first village to go cashless.

Ø  Hyderabad International Airport managed by GMR group achieved the Carbon Neutral status.

·         Earlier in September 2016, Delhi International airport managed by GMR group also achieved the Carbon Neural status.

·         Deshpathi Srininvas appointed as OSD(Officer on Special Duty)-Cultural wing in CMO.

·         Telangana State Police Academy (TSPA) received “Union Minister Trophy for Excellence in Police Training Institute” Award.

Ø  Telangana Govt  made MoU with 14 Corporate hospitals to setup “wellness centers “ for proving free health facilities to the Govt employees & Journalists.

·         Health & Family welfare minister Lakshma Reddy opened the first Well center at Kahairatabad.

Ø  Warangal police commissionerate  going to conduct Swashakti ,a self defense programme to the women & college girls.

·         Total 2,276 women participated in the programme.

·         The programme  going to get place in Guinness Book by breaking the programme conducted in Brazil.

Ø  CM KCR announced to construct Christian Bhavan at  Nagole,Hyderabad.

Ø  ASCI(Administrative Staff College of India) or Bella Vista(Spanish- Beautiful sight) celebrating the Diamond Jubilee on 21^st December,2016.

·         It was inaugurated in 1956 built by Museluddin Mohammad,a lawyer and later become the Chief Justice of HC of Hyderabad.

·         Originally  It was in this palace that the heir apparent to the masnad (throne) of Hyderabad, Prince of Berar, Nawab Mir Himayat Ali Khan, Azam Jah Bahadur, the elder son of the Seventh Nizam, Mir Osman Ali Khan, stayed

·         It is the model of Henely-on-Thames of England.

Ø  Papineni Shivashankar Prasad selected for Sahiti award-2016 from Telugu for his poetry “Rajani Ganda”- He is from Guntur dist.

Ø  CM KCR going to participate in the House warming function the Double bedroom Houses of  Model Villages (Adharsha Gramalu) at his adopted villages Erravelli &Narsampet ,Markook Mandal,Siddipet dist.

Salient features of the Model villages –

·         first time India to give free double bedroom houses to 600 families.

·         Self-sustaning,Self ruling &Self-sufficient villages.

·         Entire village is the one family.

·         No family starves in the village.

·         Soak pits(Inkudu guntalu)- Internet facilities

·         100% Drip irrigation by Netafim.

·         Construction of 5 check dams on tanks & Kudleru rivulet for both the villages.

·          People participation in community development through “Shramadhanam.”

·         Community farming in 2800 acres,

·         Each house is in 580 sq,yards

·         Two buffalos & 10 chickens to each house,

Ø  KTR given call to all public representatives to wear handloom dresses once in a weak to promote and encourage the Handloom workers in the state.

Short notes on GST(Goods & Service Tax)

Ø  Rajya sabha passed Goods & Services Tax(GST)bill on 7^th July 2016.

 GST was first proposed by former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, in 2005

v  Replaces the all indirect taxes(sales taxes like CST, VAT,service tax,excise  tax)except Customs duty.

v  With this the country had come under One Country – One tax concept.

v  The GST have two structures in it: Central GST(CGST) & State GST (SGST)

v  GST regime brigs seamless and uniform market across the country and check the evasion,boost the growth.

v  Short term effects:

ü  Services like online shopping, flights,hotel services and train tickets, Jewellery,ciggerattes,branded clothes  and banking  get costlier.

ü  Goods like SUVs,two wheelers,fans,aircoolers and water heaters get cheaper,

v  Longterm effects :

ü  Will elimante multiple taxes on the firms and do the ease of business.

ü  Reduces the logistics cost due to elimination of inte-state taxes.

ü  Capital goods prices could fall by 12-14% and boosts the GDP 0.5%

ü  Reduce the black money,the need for financial documentation is more.

·         GST if set at 18% is less for the Goods compare to the present 24-26%.

·         GST if set at more than 15% on present service tax rate.

·         Excemptions from GST – Petrol,Diesel,Alchol,Power and Real estate.

v  States can fix their own state GST.

v  Centre will get the right to impose GST on state.

v  Out of 29 states 15 states should agree for this bill.

v  Amendments to the bill.

§  No surcharge of 1%

§  Compensation for states for 5 years.

§  Establishment of special council to solve conflict between centre & state,

§  Loksabha approved GST bill on 8^th August 2016 with few amendments.

§  All 443 members present in the Lok Sabha — which had earlier passed it in May 2015 —voted in favour of the Constitution (122nd Amendment) Bill, 2014

·         It provides for constitution of a Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council by inserting Article 279A in the Constitution. The Council will recommend to the Union and States on the inclusion and exclusion of goods and services.

·         The bill  passed in Rajya Sabha after which more than a half of India's 29 states  approved it before the central and state governments would get equal powers to tax goods and services.

·         With the passage of GST bill at every stage, the whole country, which is one-sixth of world's population, would become a single market and would give a necessary fillip as far as the trade is concerned.

·         The Assam Assembly  become the first state to ratify The Constitution (122nd Amendment) (GST) Bill, 2014.

·         Tax credit is possible with the implementation of GST.

Tax credit : A tax credit is a tax incentive which allows certain taxpayers to subtract the amount of the credit from the total they owe the state.

Ø  On the eve of 70^th Independence day India, Telangana police got highest number of  presidential awards.

·         Total 38 medals got by Telangana police.

1 -  President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

2 - President's Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG)

11- Police Medal for Meritorious services

24 – Police Medal for gallatry.

·         Rajiv Ratan IPS,DG,Fire services,Hyderabad is awarded the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

·         Two policemen Siddaiah and Nagaraju who were gunned down by fugitive gangsters in Nalgonda district, were awarded the President's Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) (These 2 medals of country got by Telangana police.)

Ø  Cabinet sub committee formed for reorganisation of Districts decided to form 27 districts from earlier 10 districts,

Ø  Sir Ronald ross Institute of Parasitology & Museum (Old Begumpet Hospital built in 1895) located on Old Begumpet,Secunderabd.

·         On 20^th August,1897 Ronald ross, discovered the Malaria causing mosquito Anaphelous in Old Begumpet Hospital in Secunderabad.

·         20^th August celebrated as the World Mosquito Day.

Ø  For the year 2015-16,Telangana recorded Rs. 1 lakh cr. Rupees of exports from the state.

·         1^st position - Information Technology(IT) with Rs.70,000cr. Of exports

Telangana Average is 13.26% which is more than National average 12.3%

·         2^nd Position - Pharma Industry with Rs.12,836 cr.

30% of total pharma exports of the country occurring from the Telangana.

·         3^rd  Position – Organic chemicals with Rs.11776 cr.

Highest exports to USA(Rs.10,784 Cr.) followed by UAE (Rs.1437cr) and China (Rs.1208 Cr.)

·         In 2014- 15,it was Rs.66,276 Cr.in IT sector.
